It’s Go Time

This one’s for the procrastinators, the “someday-ers,” and the folks waiting for life to roll out a red carpet.

Here’s the truth: there is no perfect time. There’s just now.

Sure, you can plan, prepare, and daydream forever. But at some point, all that planning is just hiding. And no, I’m not suggesting you blow the kids’ college fund on a 55-foot Viking boat, though, let’s admit it, that does sound like a pretty sweet Saturday. (And to be clear, I’m not your financial advisor. You’ve got a money guy for that… I hope.)

The point is, if you’ve been sitting on a big change, new career, new school, new city, or just a new start. Waiting won’t magically make it easier. Action does. Even if it’s awkward. Even if it’s imperfect.

I’ve been around 45 years, which, according to every teenager I kno,w makes me a fossil. And fossils have perspective: life is short. Blink and you’ll miss it.

So if you’ve been telling yourself “later,” consider this your nudge. Rip off the Band-Aid. Take the leap. Go all-in on the thing that makes you feel alive.

Because one day you’ll look back, and the only regret will be that you waited.

Taking The HART Out of Brandon

State Representative Michael Owen is floating legislation that would scrap the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit system (HART) and replace it with a Tampa-only Transit Authority.

What does that mean for Brandon, Valrico, FishHawk, and the rest of us east of the Crosstown? In short: fewer options. Riders here who depend on HART to get to work, school, or appointments could be left in the dust while Tampa tightens its grip on the system.

For Brandon residents, it’s not just about buses, it’s about being cut out of decisions that impact us daily. Tampa wants control of its routes and its dollars, but what about the thousands of people outside city limits who help fund the system too?

Losing HART would put a lot of our neighbors in a tough spot. Public transit may not be the first thing you think of in Brandon, but for many families, it’s essential. And once it’s gone, the options are slim: rideshares, carpools, or dusting off that old bike in the garage.
