Permit Panic and Playing Defense Against Alzheimer's

🚦 Heads-Up Brandon Parents: Teen Driver Rule Change Delayed (Slightly)

We covered it a few weeks back, but in case you missed it, Florida is rolling out new rules for teens looking to get their learner’s permit. And now, there's been a slight shift in the timeline.
Originally set to take effect July 1, the new requirement has officially been pushed back to August 1, giving families a bit more breathing room.
🆕 So What’s Changing?
If your teen is between 15 and 17 years old, they’ll now need to complete a state-approved Driver Education Traffic Safety (DETS) course before getting their learner’s permit. This is a step up from the old 4-hour TLSAE course (Traffic Law & Substance Abuse Education).
🗓️ New Deadline: August 1, 2025
Until then, teens can still qualify using either the DETS course or the older TLSAE course—but only if TLSAE is fully completed before August 1. After that date, DETS will be the only accepted option for under-18 drivers.
🚘 Why the Change?
The state says it’s about safety, and they’re not wrong. The DETS course is more comprehensive, covering things like:
Defensive driving
Distracted driving awareness
Real-world road scenarios
And hey, if it helps keep Brandon's roads a little safer, we’re all for it.
📝 What Parents Need to Do
If your teen:
Already started TLSAE: Finish it before August 1
Hasn’t started anything yet: Plan to enroll in DETS
Is 18+: You’re good, just take TLSAE and the written exam
You can check with Florida Virtual School and other state-approved providers to knock it out online.
Let’s keep our young drivers safe and stress-free, as much as possible anyway. We’ve all been there.

🧠 Alzheimer’s Hits Women Hard—But Hormones Might Be the Missing Defense
Brought to you by Wellness Vitalized, Riverview’s Premier Hormone & Wellness Clinic

“Ladies, let’s talk: Can hormones help protect your brain?
(Spoiler: Yes. Big time!)”
—Carine, Founder of Wellness Vitalized
Alzheimer’s is not a gender-neutral disease. Nearly 2 out of 3 Alzheimer’s patients are women. And while many assume that’s just because women live longer, newer science suggests that’s only part of the story.
As Carine explained in a recent message to her clients, “We’ve had some exciting news this year when it comes to women’s health, hormones, and brain protection.”
She’s talking about a massive study of more than 7 million women that asked one simple question:
Can starting hormone replacement therapy (HRT) after menopause lower your risk of Alzheimer’s?
The answer was a resounding YES:
🌸 Women who began estrogen therapy within 3–5 years of menopause lowered their risk by 44%.
💊 Women who took oral estrogen dropped their risk by 55%.
🧬 And women with the APOE4 gene—the one that increases Alzheimer’s risk—saw up to an 87% reduction in risk when taking oral estrogen.
But here’s the critical part: not all hormones are the same.
“CEE is a synthetic estrogen. At Wellness Vitalized, we do not recommend or prescribe synthetic hormones. We focus on bioidentical options like E2 (estradiol) that your body recognizes and uses more naturally,” Carine explained.
At Wellness Vitalized, every client receives a custom plan, not a prescription pad approach. Whether you’re struggling with brain fog, sleep, mood, or just want to future-proof your health, this is where you start the conversation.
“It’s not one-size-fits-all, and we don’t just throw pills around,” Carine said.
“But if we can help you feel better now, while also protecting your future self… why wouldn’t we explore it?”
🌿 Your brain matters. Your hormones do too.
Let’s connect the dots—together.
